First commercial production of HRC Gasoline in US
Using HRC technology, this refiner has reconfigured their gasoline blending operations to create an 81 octane HRC gasoline CBOB, which blends to 87 octane when 10 % ethanol is added. This is the first step of moving toward full HRC gasoline production. It involved no capital investment by taking advantage of Ethanol Blending Synergy to increase refinery profitability.
US Patent 11,434,441 B2 “Blended Gasoline Composition” issued to John Burger
This patent is the basis for HRC technology in automotive gasoline. The formulation involves significant reductions in gasoline aromatics and olefins in favor of the higher energy paraffins. High Hydrogen Content HRC gasoline is less toxic and emits less CO2 upon combustion.
